Depression doesn’t discriminate. Its victims range from the rich and famous to the average person, causing disruption of the mind and deterioration of one’s mood. For many, no one knows how they truly feel because they stay silent. For example, the world usually becomes aware that their favourite celebrity suffers from depression only when they release a statement or comment in an interview or on their social network.
The truth is that when someone is experiencing something as debilitating as depression, it can be hard to express how they feel. But it is imperative that this is done. Opening up about your feelings if you are struggling, automatically puts you in a position where you are no longer alone and can be helped.
If you have opened up to someone and didn’t receive the reaction that you were expecting, don’t let that stop you from opening up to someone else. There will always be someone who is willing to help you.
Here at the UCKG HelpCentre, we can be that ‘someone’. We are available to listen to you; that is what our 24-hour Helpline is for, so that no matter what time of day you need to speak, someone will be on the other end of the line to hear you. Give us a call today on 020 7686 6000.
If prayerful support is what you are after, you can also join us on Fridays at midday, where we use the power of faith and prayer to empower you to combat the feelings of depression, loneliness, sadness and all negativity that works within.
Even if you feel as though you don’t know how to confront it, we are here to help you. Just know that you don’t have to fight alone.
