Supporting people through the toughest times

Supporting people through the toughest timesPrison inmates are often forgotten about or cast aside, even after they have served their time. In the UK the overall proven reoffending rate was 24.7% from January to March 2020, for this reason, the Universal Church believes that no one is beyond help, which is why, we have the Rescue of Dignity Group (ROD), they aim to empower prisoners and ex-offenders as well as their family members to start afresh.

The ROD’s services include regular visits to detainees, writing letters to them, ‘meet and greet’ outside of prison upon release, court attendance support for families and friends of inmates and hamper donations.

Our services aim to guide both inmates and ex-offenders to make positive choices which can help them in the long run.

All our volunteers who work with ex-offenders are DBS checked, they work to help them resume their place in the community through mentoring. This includes support in training, employment and referrals.

We believe that supporting and helping prisoners to maintain healthy family ties has a positive impact on them which therefore reduces the chance of reoffending.
