Easter Saturday Jewellery Making Workshop for Finsbury Park Lone Parents

Wednesday 1st April 2015

Lone parents and their children from Finsbury Park and surrounding areas will be coming along to a free jewellery-making workshop at the community hub, in Corker Walk on the Andover Estate on Easter Saturday, April 4th.

The event is being run by the UCKG HelpCentre’s Lone Parents’ Group and takes place between 1pm and 3pm. The main activity will be a creative workshop where lone parents can get together in a sociable environment to learn useful new jewellery-making skills. After a short break there will be a case study on a single mother who is now working, having started her own part time business.

Daisy Ajorgbor, who leads the Lone Parents’ Group said: “Our members will be on hand to welcome newcomers and everyone who comes along can expect to gain a sense of achievement by creating handmade gifts plus something nice for themselves. Besides, it’s good to know how to be resourceful with materials.”

The workshop has been timed to take place in the school holidays, as this is when lone parents can be somewhat isolated at home with their children. The Lone Parents Group is keen to establish a warm atmosphere so that everyone has a thoroughly nice afternoon and feels comfortable in accessing help, should they need it.

There is no need to book. Simply turn up on the day and volunteers from the Lone Parents’ Group will be there to help.

UCKG is a Christian church and registered charity that offers a range of practical support activities alongside spiritual support and comfort and welcomes all-comers. It reached the UK in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength, providing support and spreading the Christian faith. There are UCKG HelpCentre branches in England and Wales.

The Lone ParentsGroup holds weekly meetings at the Finsbury Park HelpCentre in the Rainbow Theatre, Seven Sisters Road and at other HelpCentres throughout the UK.
