The sky is the limit – if you let it

We live in a world where we encourage everyone to be the best version of themselves but sometimes we are stopped right in our tracks because of self-doubt.

It’s not until we see someone else overcome something that we put our own lives into perspective, for example, someone that goes through a life-altering disease, Paralympic athletes, and a long list of people who strive to be the best version of themselves even when life gets tough.

Do you think you can’t? Just ask 34-year-old Katie Redstar who teaches sign language from her home after being told her disability would leave her unable to work.

Katie suffered a permanent loss of hearing caused by meningitis when she was just a toddler. Faced with the prospect of a life resigned to benefits, she decided to set up a business venture called Ignite Your Inner Light, which offers sign language training to companies.

Katie saw a big gap in the market, and she took advantage of it. At the same time, she is creating a more open and tolerant society because she is making sign language a more common language. Inevitably, she has also set up a wonderful example for people who downgrade themselves and suffer with low self-esteem. Katie has shown the world that anyone can succeed.

If we break the barrier that impedes us from doing what we want, which is usually the fear that stops us from applying for that dream job or robs us of the courage to ask a person out, we open up possibilities that we never imagined existed at our disposal. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do, especially if that person is yourself.

If you feel like you have been a bit down, but you know you have potential, all you need is a helping hand to motivate you and give you the inspiration you need to pursue your dreams. Every Monday we hold meetings to help students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and the like to become self-motivated people and go-getters. By learning from the examples of successful people who used faith-based principles to overcome their frailties, we demonstrate how anyone can also be successful if they push themselves hard enough. Join us in one of our branches and change your life story.
