23,213 fresh bowls of soup served at our soup kitchens

make a positive impact,

fresh bowls of soup

We are committed to helping our local communities wherever our Universal Church branches are based. In 2017 we set up our first Soup Kitchen in Catford, to help people deal with the effects of food insecurity within that community.

During the pandemic, several additional Soup Kitchens were opened to cater for the residents of their local areas. To this day, over 23,213 fresh bowls of soup have been served at our soup kitchens.

We currently have Soup Kitchens in: Finsbury Park, Catford, Kilburn, Peckham, Leeds, Manchester, Peterborough and Glasgow. They operate every Saturday, from 11am until 1pm. Participating branches provide soup, bread and light refreshments to anyone in need.

The feedback is always overwhelmingly positive, this is thanks to our warm and friendly approach. Users of our Soup Kitchen often say that although the main thing is the food, they also appreciate how volunteers treat them. They say that going there and seeing warm, friendly smiles really helps to lift their spirits.

The users are grateful that they have somewhere to turn to, especially those on a low income as it really makes a difference. Some say we also make a positive impact on their mental health, knowing where you can go to get a warm meal is one less thing to worry about.

Another user agreed and said that sometimes, people who resort to charity are overlooked and not treated nicely, however, they don’t get this in our Soup Kitchens “You feel seen, received with warm smile. It’s what the world needs right now”.
