Why not love the world or the things in the world?

The world

Everything that is conquered here on Earth and the pleasures of this world all come down to nothing as everything will eventually come to an end.

Furthermore, there will be a moment when we will leave this Earth and everything we use and enjoy will be left behind, only the memories will remain. But the question that stands is, after you enjoy your life, youth, strength, beauty and more, where is your soul destined?

The Bible teachings are clear in regards to the destination of one’s soul. In Luke 16:19-31, Jesus speaks of two men who lived in Babylon under the empire of Nebuchadnezzar. They were Jews and knew of the existence of God and eternity. One was miserably poor and sick, whilst the other one was very rich.

When the poor man died, his soul was taken by angels, while the rich man was buried and his soul was deposited in hell. In the same way, every soul has a destination: Heaven or hell.

When the soul detaches from the body, it will live for eternity, and the one who decides if it will dwell with God or without God, in Heaven or in hell, is you. And what is the soul? It is the centre of our dreams, emotions and desires.

The soul, when it is carried away by the sensations of this vile world, remains distracted, possibly until death, where hell awaits.

The Word of God warns us by saying:

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2.15)

So, as long as one loves the corrupt and perverse ideas, practices and movements of the world, they are heading towards hell, as it is written. On the other hand, by surrendering your soul to the Lord Jesus, you will be denying the world, causing Him to perform His will through you.

The good news is that as long as we are alive, we have the opportunity to recognise our mistakes and turn to God, before it is too late. If you recognise that you are far from God and the decisions you have been making are taking you down the wrong path, do something today that you will later thank yourself for – start living a life in accordance to the will of God.

No matter what poor choices you may have made thus far, if you choose to let go of your past and start a new life with God, He will surely accept you, as He has promised in His Word:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 NKJV)

To learn more about how you can secure your place in the Kingdom of Heaven, you are invited to attend our weekly Bible Study meeting taking place this Wednesday at your local Universal Church.

Last week we ended our 4-week Biblical series, the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, based on Revelation 6. This week, a new theme will be explored, “The Thief in the Night”.

The message you will receive will open your mind to what is yet to come and how you can prepare yourself for these upcoming events.

Bring your Bible and come with the willingness to receive a direction directly from the Word of God for your spiritual development and above all to obey it.

By doing this you will be investing in your most valuable possession, your soul, and in return you will receive the peace and security that comes from God here on earth, and above all your salvation.
