What is the ROD group?

ROD group

You could say some of the most despised and rejected people in the world are those in prison, as many have lost contact with their friends, children and romantic partners.

As a consequence, prison inmates have shown higher rates of mental illnesses, such as depression and PTSD.

That’s where the ROD (Rescue of Dignity) group come in.

Designed to offer spiritual advice and prayers for prison inmates and their families, they run a number of projects and initiatives to support this group of people.

Last week, volunteers from our Universal Church in Newcastle visited a local all-female Detention Centre. They were able to bring gift bags with personal and female hygiene products, books and newspapers for those present.

The volunteers of the ROD group were thrilled to bring a smile to the faces of the inmates and workers in the prison. They eagerly anticipate the opportunity to host further projects to show care and attention to these women.

You can see the highlights of this prison visit on our social media platforms and be sure to stay tuned for future updates.

If you or someone you know can benefit from the work of the ROD group, do not hesitate to get in touch. You can visit us at your local Universal Church and speak with your Pastor or contact us on our 24-Hour Helpline numbers.
