The privilege of sitting at the Lord’s Table

The Lords table

If you live in London or have ever visited the city, it is likely you have driven past beautiful houses that are worth millions. Maybe you even pondered within yourself, “What an amazing home. Imagine if I could live inside this mansion.”

Meaning, you were able to contemplate the beauty of the house from the outside but you didn’t have the chance to see what the living room looked like, or to admire the decoration, much less to eat a meal there.

Contrastingly, when the Lord Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, He did so with the aim of giving us the opportunity to not only be in His House but to eat at His table.

It is a ceremony for those who are closest to the Lord Jesus.

Bishop James, who oversees the work of the Universal Church in the UK, explored this subject further, live this morning, saying:

“If you, naturally, don’t see the importance of taking part of the Lord’s Supper that only means you are not close to Him.”

However, this is not to exclude any group of people from taking part in this blessed ceremony. If you recognise that you are not close to Him but you want to be, He is inviting you to participate of this special occasion.

It’s not something you have to merely imagine or hope for, in fact, if you are reading this, you are invited to join us at your local Universal Church this Sunday at 10am (also at 7:30am) to dine at the Lord’s table.

Whether you will be attending one of our meetings for the first time, are returning to the presence of God or a long-standing member, we will be serving the Holy elements to everyone.
