Sunday of the 5th Commandment

What is the 5th commandment and how does it relate to you?

The Bible states the following:

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12)

Honouring your parents is to acknowledge, respect and appreciate them. It’s understanding that even when there is discipline involved, it also shows their love because they have your best interest in mind.

Now let’s see this through God’s perspective, He too is a Father and wants to also be honoured by His children. There is no better way to honour God but by reading His word and applying it. After all He said:

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him…” (John 14:23)

God has the best interest for those who obey Him the same way a parent has for their child. God wants to give the best of what He has, however, this is reserved for those who choose to do His will and not their own that is for those who choose to be His child.

This Sunday at your local Universal Church will be the Sunday of the 5th Commandment.

We invite you to participate in this special ceremony, of the Lord’s Supper of the 5th Commandment. In this special ceremony you will be invited to eat consecrated bread and grape juice that symbolises by faith the body and the blood of Christ – the sacrifice He made on our behalf has given us the opportunity to be one with Him through the partaking of the Lord’s Supper.

For you who say you want to make God your Father and honour Him this is for you!
