Tuesday 5th March 2013

The final event in the world-wide role out of Nothing to Lose, the first volume of Bishop Edir Macedo’s three-part autobiography, takes place in London at Blackwell’s Bookshop, 100 Charing Cross Road, on Sunday March 10th between 2pm and 6pm.

The book has already proved to be a major publishing success, with 971,125 copies sold at a series of launches around the world between the first event in Brazil in late 2012 and March 1st.

Having postponed the London launch for two weeks to ensure that there are enough copies of the English language translation to meet demand, it is now expected that sales will top 15,000 copies, most of which are already reserved, and may reach 16,000.

However there is still time to pre-order the book via nothingtolose.eu.com and collect it from Blackwell’s at the launch.

Steve Orchard Blackwell’s store manager said: “Our most experienced staff will be on the tills to ensure that everyone is served quickly.” After that purchasers will be able to get their copies autographed by one of the Bishop’s senior colleagues.

Bishop Macedo, who is now 67, is the founder and long time head of the UCKG HelpCentre, a Pentecostal church with a huge following around the world.

Inview of his numerous responsibilities he has not attended the launches. However, he will be represented in London by Bishop Celso Junior who heads the UCKG HelpCentre in the UK, Bishop Julio Freitas who oversees the UCKG HelpCentre’s work throughout Europe and co-author Douglas Tavolaro.

Bishop Celso Junior said: “We are looking forward to March 10th with great excitement. This book is a source of inspiration that we believe will spark a change of fortune for many people in need.”

Note to editors:

UCKG is a Christian church and registered charity that offers a range of practical support activities alongside spiritual support and comfort and welcomes all-comers. It reached the UK in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength, providing support and spreading the Christian faith. There are UCKG HelpCentre branches in England and Wales.

Nothing to Lose contains extensive insights into Bishop Macedo’s life and thinking, although not always in chronological order, and does much to explain how a man from a modest home and large family rose to form what is now a global Pentecostal church.

The book covers aspects of the Bishop’s early life and his development as a preacher, thinker and church leader. It includes his accounts of seminal family and politically influenced events that helped to shape him into the man he is today.

The UCKG is based firmly on the practical teachings of the Bible; and its leader is still as passionate about serving God – after 35 years at the helm – as he was at the start.
