How to relieve work-related stress

Weekend

A long and busy working week can cause feelings of stress when our thoughts and feelings are not managed appropriately. If we neglect these harmful feelings and allow them to build up, this can escalate to feelings of anxiety.

The weekend, when used effectively, can be the perfect opportunity to unwind and prepare the mind for a new week. Keep reading to find 5 steps to a stress-relief weekend.

  1. Log off!

During the weekend, disconnect from your work and give your mind a rest. Avoid answering emails or working on any unfinished projects.

  1. Be active!

Exercise has proven to boost feelings of happiness and alleviate stress. This doesn’t have to be a vigorous workout, why not try going for a brisk walk or swimming?

  1. Keep away from alcohol

Drinking alcohol affects the brain’s natural levels of serotonin and dopamine, chemicals which produce feelings of happiness. If you want to start the week with a fresh mind, according to science you should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages.

  1. Meal prep

Using your weekend to plan and prepare your meals gives you one less thing to worry about during the week. Separate some time to cook one or two healthy meals that you can store and eat later.

  1. Recharge your spirit!

Attend the Sunday Morning service at 10am (also at 7:30am) at your local Universal Church, where you will receive prayers and a word of faith which will uplift you. This weekly meeting is essential to renew our strength and clear our mind of all our worries, as well as give us a direction for the new week ahead.

Invite your family to join you and don’t forget to bring a bottle of water with you which will be blessed in the meeting!
