How to improve your cardiovascular health

Tuesday news

Our heart is a key organ that is responsible for pumping blood around our bodies and keeping us alive. Taking good care of your heart is essential to prevent cardiovascular disease and prolong your life. Here are some easy ways you can boost the strength and health of your heart!

Keeping the cholesterol in your blood low is essential to preventing heart disease. You can do this by eating healthy, cutting down on saturated fats and replacing them with heart-healthy foods. Salmon for example is loaded with fats that are good for the heart.

Further small changes to your diet can drastically improve your overall health, such as cutting down on sugary or highly salty snacks for natural ones, such as nuts. Eating lots of sodium is linked to high blood pressure and excessive sugar consumption can lead to diabetes, both of which are risk factors for heart disease.

Stress is also a common cause of high blood pressure and an increased heart rate. Learning to manage your stress may be difficult but it will help in keeping your heart happy.

Why not try exercising regularly, which has been proven to reduce stress levels and increase your endorphins, dopamine and adrenaline levels – brain chemicals which are linked to feelings of happiness and confidence.

No to mention, your heart is a muscle, therefore keeping active and exercising, will strengthen it, as with any muscle. You can start by finding an activity that works for you, that you can do regularly and stick to in the long term.

If you or a family member has been visited by sickness and you are having a hard time dealing with this pain, you are invited to attend the weekly health meetings at your nearest Universal Church.

These meetings take place every Tuesday at 7:30pm (also at 7am, 10am & 3pm) and we pray for God to manifest His word in your health, or that of your family.
