The Bible teaches us that envy is harmful and can destroy lives. Without the protection of God, someone else’s envy towards you can become a curse, able to destroy families, careers and even your well-being.
We can find many examples in the Bible of those who were victims of another person’s envy, one of them being Abel, who was murdered by his brother Cain.
This tragedy took place when Cain became jealous of his brother because God accepted Abel’s offering and had rejected Cain’s. Rather than rejecting these evil feelings, Cain allowed them to grow into anger and later he unlawfully killed his brother.
Many people who are now members of the Universal Church, once walked through the doors of the church, claimed that they came to the church as a victim of people who were jealous of them but today have experienced a transformed life.
In order to see a change in their life and break free from the curse of envy, deliverance had to take place and they had to seek for the seal of the Holy Spirit. Once someone surrenders their life to God and receives the Holy Spirit, they are protected from all the attacks of evil.
In other words, if you have God with you, any work of envy or jealousy that may be done against you will not harm you.
However, you will still have to be watchful that you do not fall into the snare of envying others and their success.
You could even say that for those who are serving God, the greatest threat is not the envy that comes from outside but it’s the envy that can grow within you when you are not watchful.
