Has your sleep been affected?

A recent study by Direct Line Life Insurance revealed that more than 37 million Brits are not sleeping enough at night. As a matter of fact, 1 in 7 people survive on ‘dangerously low levels of sleep a night’ (under 5 hours).

Whilst a few sleepless nights due to reasons such as having a baby or stress are harmless, say the NHS, perpetual and long-term sleep issues can be a sign of an underlying problem.

Firstly, it’s essential to understand the importance of sleep and why we do it. Good sleep hygiene is imperative to feel well rested and repair your mind and body. It’s vital as it directly impacts your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Consequently, long periods of sleep deprivation can cause irritability, constant feelings of tiredness and can even negatively affect your relationships.

If you have been having a hard time falling asleep at night, or your sleep is interrupted throughout the night, you are advised to seek medical attention. Tackling this issue quickly will help you to get back on track and restore your sense of wellbeing.
