confession, Forgiveness, psalm, Repentance, the presence of God,
You are feeling a huge weight on your shoulders, but you donโt realise there is a way to relieve yourself. Just look at the peace you want, not the things you will โlose.โ
Psalm 32 brings a word to those who are carrying a huge burden of guilt for things they have done and want repentance:
โBlessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is coveredโ (Psalm 32:1).
Meaning, happy is the one who achieves forgiveness, the one whose sin is covered, washed and eliminated from their life.
โBlessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceitโ (Psalm 32:2).
In other words, there is no hypocrisy. If thereโs one thing God despises, itโs pretence. And those who act like this have no place in the presence of God because they are already condemned by themselves; because the person who deceives is committing an act of unbelief because they think they can escape in the eyes of God. They are stating that God does not exist.
David talks about how he solved his guilt problem. We all know that David covered his adultery for a while. He kept that sin for many months. In the eyes of others, apparently, everything was fine, but inwardly, he carried more than one weight.
โWhen I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day longโ (Psalm 32:3).
The solution to that weight was the confession, that is, pulling off the mask:
โI acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, โI will confess my transgressions to the Lord,โ And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.โ (Psalm 32:5).
There, he arrived at a point of the restoration of his own life.
