Feast of the first fruits: Consecration of the Seconds

News Consecration ToS

During the construction of the Temple of Solomon, olive trees that were centuries of years old were transported and replanted at the temple. More than 9 years later, they have produced their first fruit!

These olives were harvested by the priests in the temple, who then stone-pressed them to extract their oil, just like in Biblical times. This oil was extracted specifically to anoint the heads of those who consider themselves to be second.

When reading the Bible, we are able to see just how much God values the first fruits. The people of Israel understood that separating the first fruits of everything that they received meant placing God in first place in their lives (consequently making them second).

This practice is a demonstration of the tither’s faithfulness to God, and their best will be accepted by God and rewarded with protection, prosperity and provision.

“I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8)

The first press of the olives produces oil in its purest form. Only the first press of the olives was used as fuel to light lamps and anoint the utensils in the temple in the past. This was to teach the children of Israel and us today that we should always offer our very best to God.

Tithing is also a gesture of gratitude and recognition that God is the provider of everything we have. Abraham, for example, gave the tithe of everything he retrieved, after a great victory (Genesis 14).

On the 7 May at 10am (also at 7.30am) we will have the consecration of those who are the second with the first oil from the olive trees of the Temple of Solomon.

All those who have decided to be second and place God first will be anointed with the oil of the first press directly from the Temple of Solomon. This event will be taking place in all our churches across the UK.
