Do you lack wisdom?

Wisdom; the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. Many people claim to have it but what truly shows if they are wise or not, are the daily choices they make in life.

It’s common to associate wisdom to people’s IQ. The higher the IQ the wiser the person… right? Wrong! Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is about how a person implements the knowledge that they have learned and gained, but wisdom is much deeper than that. In fact, there are two types of wisdom: the earthly one and the Divine one; the wisdom of men and the wisdom of God… one can get you through a thing or two, the other allows you to build a life, and one that is more abundant.

According to God, a person’s high IQ is not a reflection of Divine wisdom. “Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments… Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”(Deut. 4:5,6)

God’s wisdom comes through obeying His principles. We see in the past that whenever the people of God followed His instructions, they did well, however when they didn’t they’d ultimately always end up in some kind of trouble.

If we want to have God’s wisdom, then we need to put into practice what He says. If a person only has knowledge of His Word but doesn’t act on it, he is like the man in Matthew 7:24-27, who built his house on sand—that house is nowhere near enough to weather the storms! God encourages us to be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock.

Imagine that ‘house’ representing you or even better, your life. Every day, we make choices that build our lives. Those who build (make decisions) upon the Rock (based on the Word of God) will not only be able to stand strong no matter life’s storms, but will also have the strength to overcome them.

You see, the wisdom God wants us to have is not based on earthly intelligence. It’s a wisdom that looks far beyond our obstacles and limitations. Even though things may look bleak right now, you don’t have to be a victim of it. If you want to be truly wise and stand as solid as a rock come what may, join us throughout the month of February as we seek the wisdom that comes from God.
