3 sources of worry and how to end them

How to end worry

According to data from the World Health Organisation, there is an unprecedented number of people who struggle with anxiety nowadays than in previous generation.

As a result, the statistics show that in England, 6 in 100 people on average are diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder every week.

Everyone will experience feelings of anxiety at some point in their lifetime but for some, their anxiety is constant, affecting their daily quality of life.

While there are many factors that contribute to feelings of worry, below you will read some of the common causes of this uneasy feeling. If you can relate to anything mentioned in this article, it is advised that you seek medical help.

  1. Focusing on what you don’t have

It can be easy to allow the concern of what you don’t have to overpower you, which can generate feelings of dissatisfaction. This is not to say that you should settle, but eliminating the worry about what you haven’t yet achieved can help you feel calmer about your future.

  1. Looking at what other people have

In the last two decades, there has been a tremendous rise in social media platforms and their popularity. Take care not to use these applications to compare your life to others as this can have a negative impact on you.

  1. Not knowing what to do to resolve a problem

Having a problem without knowing where to start to resolve it can cause apprehension. This uncertainty is one of the greatest causes of worry.

If you’ve been a victim of these feelings of apprehension, you are not alone as the statistics show that 60% of the UK experience at least mild symptoms of anxiety.

The NHS advise that you seek medical attention so that you can receive the best treatment for your individual case.

Furthermore, the Lord Jesus gives us a solution to worrying in His word:

“Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22 NKJV)

God invites us to offload all of our troubles to Him, which we can do through prayer. This simple act of faith can alleviate your worries and leave you feeling lighter even whilst still in the midst of difficulties.
