All day long, we are bombarded by voices—whether through personal conversations, notifications, videos, or social media posts. Every screen presents a new message: news, films, music, teachings, advice and opinions.
Most of the time, we treat these voices as something normal and harmless—mere distractions of modern life. However, the Bible gives us an important warning: “There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.” (1 Corinthians 14:10).
Every voice we hear carries a thought, idea or message that, whether we realise it or not, shapes who we are and how we think. When we expose ourselves to too many voices, confusion often follows. One idea is formed, only to be quickly replaced by another that contradicts it. These multiple voices create internal division, instilling doubts and weakening us from within.
On the other hand, the Bible teaches us to listen to One voice above all others: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4).
Consider the example of sheep. They become familiar with the voice of their shepherd and learn to follow him alone. When strangers call out, they usually don’t respond because they don’t recognise those voices. Similarly, we are called to recognise and follow the voice of our Shepherd, the Lord Jesus. When we are attuned to His voice, the other voices lose their power to distract or mislead us.
Listening to God’s Word helps unify our mind, senses and purpose, bringing balance to our lives. Through His Word, we can overcome doubts and the inner conflicts that try to pull us down.
Of course, there are moments when we need to seek information—whether for our studies, to learn a new skill, or to understand specific matters. Yet, our faith must always rest on the voice that never fails and never changes: the voice of God.
For this reason, we invite you to join our daily services at the Universal Church, especially on Wednesdays and Sundays, as we dedicate time to meditate on the Scriptures, develop a relationship with the Most High, and learn how to hear and discern His voice amid the many voices of this world.
