A sense of justice is something intrinsic to human nature. If you work, it’s only fair that you receive your wages; if you commit yourself to a relationship, it’s reasonable to expect your partner to do the same; if you strive to be a good parent, it’s only right to hope for good children in return. However, this “perfect world” unfortunately doesn’t exist, and injustice can be found everywhere.
God created a perfect world, but through disobedience and the desire to know evil, Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden and placed in a chaotic and unjust world – the same world we still live in today, until we are reunited with our Creator.
There are many situations that leave us feeling hurt, angry and wronged. In the face of injustice, it’s common for us to want to play the role of ‘avenger’ and take matters into our own hands. However, this often leads to a thirst for revenge, distancing us from God and true justice. After all, God cannot work in a heart filled with hatred.
In Matthew 6:33, we receive this important direction: “…Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” This reinforces the fact that God’s Justice is entirely different from our own. While our personal sense of justice is shaped by our emotions and personal experiences, God’s Justice seeks the greater good and always prevails.
Therefore, to be free from the burden of injustice, we must place our trust in Divine Justice, which never fails. Are there unfair situations or unresolved problems stealing your peace? Then join us this Sunday at your nearest Universal Church to surrender those injustices to God, seeking His Kingdom and His Justice. It will be the fourth Sunday of Justice.
