We all know that water is one of life’s most essential elements. Covering about 71% of the earth’s surface and making up around 60% of the human body, this vital resource sustains life, regulates body temperature and supports every cellular function. Without water, neither humanity nor nature could survive. Rivers, lakes and oceans are not only crucial ecosystems but also essential for agriculture, industry and climate regulation.
Beyond its role in sustaining life, water symbolises purity in many cultures and faiths. It is central to the concepts of cleansing and purification, both physically and spiritually. We rely on water to wash away dirt, bacteria and impurities from our bodies, as well as homes and environments. In the same way, there are certain impurities that form not only on the outside but within ourselves. In this sense, water also represents, by faith, spiritual cleansing and purification, and plays a vital role in practices such as baptism, for example.
When combined with faith and obedience, water becomes more than just a physical substance; it serves as a point of contact with God. This is the focus of the Seven Fridays of Spiritual Purification. During these seven weeks, participants are invited to bring a bottle of water to each service. A small amount of salt will be added and the water will be consecrated through prayer.
Salt preserves, purifies and enhances. When mixed with water and blessed by faith, it becomes a powerful spiritual tool. At home, you can use it to symbolically wash yourself, anoint your house or apply it wherever you seek answers – be it in your family, finances, love life, health or spiritual journey.
Remember, the transformation doesn’t come from the water itself but from the power of God working through your faith. Join us at your nearest Universal Church for this special chain of prayer and take a step closer to the answers you’ve been longing for – inside and out.
