Study Shows Lifestyle Has 10 Times More Impact on Health Than Genetics

A recent study published in Nature Medicine analysed health data from approximately 500,000 individuals in the United Kingdom. The study concluded that a person’s lifestyle choices have ten times more influence on their health than genetics.

These findings align with modern medical observations, that emphasise the importance of daily habits. Healthy eating, regular sleep, physical activity, and stress management play a significant role in overall well-being. On the other hand, neglecting these areas can lead to serious health conditions, including cancer and other chronic diseases.

The Bible provides guidance on this subject as well. The Apostle Paul stated: “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

This verse reminds us of the importance of taking care of our bodies, recognising them as temples of the Holy Spirit. The way we treat ourselves is a reflection of our gratitude for the life that God has given us. Poor lifestyle choices today can lead to significant health issues in the future, potentially even hindering our ability to perform simple daily activities.

No matter your age, prioritising your health is essential. If you feel that this area of your life needs more attention, consider making positive changes today. We invite you to participate in our Health Day services held every Tuesday at your local Universal Church. Prioritising your well-being today will lead to a healthier and more fulfilling future.
