Have you ever considered that someone once seen as a “bad person” can, in fact, become entirely different in the eyes of society? This isn’t just wishful thinking—it becomes reality when a person genuinely chooses to change, repents, and surrenders their life to the Lord Jesus. From that moment, everything begins to transform, and one of the first steps on this new journey is water baptism.
First and foremost, it’s important to understand what baptism truly means. It’s not a ritual or a religious formality. Rather, it’s a public declaration of faith, where the individual
proclaims: “I am ready to leave the past behind and live according to God’s will.” However, this new beginning requires more than just words. It demands renunciation, sincere repentance, and obedience to God’s Word. As the Bible teaches, we must put aside the old self and be born again into a life led by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:2–5 says: “He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptised?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptised with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Water baptism marks a turning point in one’s spiritual life. It symbolises the death of the old self and the birth of a new creation—ready to live out a sincere, steadfast, and practical faith. This is why the Lord Jesus Himself was baptised, despite being without sin: to set a clear and powerful example for all to follow.
It’s also important to note: baptism only holds meaning when it is accompanied by true repentance and complete surrender. Those who enter the waters sincerely come out changed—stronger, cleansed, and with a clear conscience before God.
From 10th to 17th August, all Universal Churches across the UK will hold a special week dedicated to water baptism.
To give everyone the opportunity for a fresh start, we will have pastors available to assist, guide, and baptise those who decide to surrender their lives to the Lord Jesus.
So, don’t delay. This is your moment to begin a new life with Him.
