Beware of double standards

Beware-of-double-standards

“But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:15)

It’s amazing how we human beings are “great” at having double standards. We love the idea of confessing our sins to God and believing (rightly so) that He will never hold them against us ever again.

But when it comes to people around us, we sometimes refuse to let go of things that were done to us. In our mind we have every right not to forgive. And when we say that we do forgive; at the first opportunity we remind the person of the great thing we have done by forgiving them.

If someone had the right not to forgive, it is the Righteous and Holy God that we serve. And yet, not only did He forgive us but also chose to forget about our transgressions (Micah 7:19)

In reality, when we think we should not forgive, this is just pride and arrogance in disguise.

If you still hold on to resentment towards someone, choose to forgive and let go of that today. No matter how hard that may seem.
