2026 has arrived, and with it comes the first Men’s Meeting of the year. This January, we will tackle a topic that is often treated as a normal part of life in modern culture—even though it is frequently experienced alone, behind closed doors and on screens. We’re talking about pornography: something many people consider just ‘part of being a man’ but in reality, it steals strength, focus, authority and true masculinity from men around the world.
Research highlights the scale and impact of this issue, showing that it’s neither normal nor harmless. A 2023 YouGov survey found that around 62% of men under 30 in the UK admitted to viewing pornography regularly, with many reporting negative effects on their relationships, self-esteem and mental well-being. Other studies have linked frequent pornography consumption to increased anxiety, desensitisation to real intimacy and difficulties with emotional connection, especially among younger men who have grown up with easy online access.
The reality of this struggle has also been acknowledged publicly by many well-known figures. Recently, former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba revealed that he battled a pornography addiction for approximately 30 years, starting in childhood. He described how it was “destroying his life from the inside out.” Shame kept him silent for decades until personal losses and life changes compelled him to speak out openly, hoping to help others avoid the same cycle.
We are here to tell you that it’s possible to regain control, and that’s exactly what you will learn this Sunday, 4 January, at 4pm at the Cathedral of Miracles in Finsbury Park (with live transmission for branches outside London.) At this special meeting titled “It’s a Man’s Thing,” we will share a direct and practical message on male identity, responsibility and character.
This is a perfect opportunity to start the new year by learning how to overcome what has been dominating you. Invite a friend and encourage someone who needs direction. If you are already participating in the IntelliMen Challenges, don’t forget to tell your buddy. When men walk together, they strengthen one another, hold each other accountable and grow.
IntelliMen is a project designed to help shape men who are strong on the inside, mindful of their decisions, and steadfast in their family, emotional and spiritual commitments.
