Your Life is Precious, Don’t Give Up On It

Helpline

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), over 720,000 people die by suicide each year worldwide, making it the third leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 29. In 2023, there were 6,069 registered deaths related to suicide in England and Wales – the highest number since 1999.

Although awareness has improved and conversations are becoming more common, many people still struggle with feelings of despair alone, often due to fear of judgement or a desire not to worry their loved ones. As challenging as it may feel, it’s crucial to express these feelings – either to someone you trust or a healthcare professional – rather than bottling them up.

Your life holds immense value, especially in the eyes of God. Luke 12:6–7 states, “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

You matter, and no situation lasts forever, even when it feels incredibly hard. There is always a way through, even in the most overwhelming circumstances. At the Universal Church, we are ready to welcome you with open arms into a caring environment. Whether you need spiritual advice or simply someone to listen, you’re not alone.
