Why you urgently need mental hygiene

Why you urgently need mental hygiene

Nowadays, people have their minds full of thoughts that arise from various sources (social networks, streaming platforms, video games, music and so on).

With so much negative information around, the consequences are that many are constantly tired, bombarded with dirty thoughts and no longer know what to believe or what is the best way to live their lives.

There is an on-going existential crisis happening, some say they have difficulty keeping their attention on activities, others are unable to sleep well. All this stems from how busy their mind is because of what they feed themselves with.

When the Lord Jesus spoke to the disciples about the end times, He left a warning:

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.” (Luke 21:34).

Many cannot concentrate on the Bible for 5 minutes, but spend hours binge-watching series on the internet. Therefore, it is essential to practise mental hygiene, so that you are not caught by surprise on the Day Jesus returns.

The solution is simple, to abandon the doctrines of this world and focus on God’s thoughts, which are sublime:

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God,” (Romans 12:2).

If your mind is in urgent need of sanitisation, the upcoming 21 days Fast of Daniel is the perfect opportunity for this. You will develop the habit of mediating on the Word of God and talking to Him more in your day, instead of frequently reaching for your mobile phone

You will see how making more time to invest in what is spiritual will completely transform not only the way you think but also the way you feel, as everything starts in your mind. And when your mind is connected to God you are at ease, filled with boldness and have a greater sense of direction.
