Have you ever had one of those moments where everything seems perfectly fine – your overall well-being is good, and then, in the blink of an eye, everything turns upside down? One moment you’re going about your day, and the next, you’re fighting for your life.
It’s difficult to imagine what that moment feels like unless you have experienced it yourself. Yesterday, two 22-year-old men were heading to the West End in a car. The black BMW they were in crashed into the fountain at Piccadilly Circus in Central London and flipped onto its roof, leaving one man seriously injured and the other in critical condition.
Life can be like that. One day everything is normal, and the next, you’re caught in a situation you never saw coming, with no way out. So, what can you do?
There was a man in the Bible (Luke 5:17-26) who was paralysed and completely reliant on others. When he and his friends heard that Jesus was in town, they were determined to get him to where Jesus was. But when they arrived at the house, the place was packed with no way in. Now, at that point, they could have just said, “Well, we tried,” and walked away. But they didn’t.
Instead, they climbed onto the roof and lowered their friend down to where Jesus was. That’s the kind of persistence and the kind of faith that changes lives.
Maybe you are feeling like nothing is working right now. You’ve tried everything. You’re tired and frustrated. But what if there’s one thing left to try – one thing that could make all the difference? What if that one thing is faith?
The paralysed man and his friends acted in faith and what happened? They caught the attention of Jesus. He saw their determination; their belief and that man received his miracle.
Perhaps, that’s what you’re missing. Not effort. Not desire. Just faith.
