Chapter 17 of the Gospel of John contains Jesus’ longest and one of His most profound prayers, often referred to as the Priestly Prayer. In this prayer, He expresses His deep concern not only for His disciples at that time but also for everyone who would believe in Him throughout the ages:
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:20-21)
These words, spoken directly to the Father, reveals His care for those who genuinely seek to live a sincere and practical faith. They remind us that faith is not meant to be distant or theoretical; it should be alive, active, and rooted in a relationship with God. This prayer remains fully relevant today for anyone who chooses to believe in and follow His teachings.
However, knowing about it is not enough; we are called to live it. This means sincerely seeking God, exercising faith daily, and maintaining constant communion with Him, even amidst everyday challenges. Through this commitment, faith becomes real, effective and enduring.
With this in mind, we are starting a new study, held every Wednesday to help you explore this powerful prayer more deeply and understand how its message can meaningfully impact our lives today.
