When It Looks Like the End, It Could Be the Beginning

Door with Wall
We all face moments when money worries take over. Perhaps you’ve lost your job, the bills are piling up, or your business is struggling to stay afloat. In these moments, we often think, “That’s it, there’s no way forward.” But the story of Moses reminds us that when we are part of God’s plan, no loss, debt, or hardship can stop what He has prepared for us.

In Exodus Chapter 2, Moses was born during a time of great danger. Pharaoh had ordered that all Hebrew baby boys be killed. With no other choice, his mother placed him in a basket and set him a float on the river.  To the human eye, it looked like the end. But in God’s hands, it was the beginning of something greater.

Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby, felt compassion, and decided to raise him as her own. Without even realising it, she became part of God’s plan. The very baby who should have been lost grew up in a palace, protected and surrounded by wealth and wisdom.

That’s exactly how God works in our financial lives too. What looks like the end might just be the start of something new. Perhaps you have lost a job, but that loss could push you towards the opportunity He has really prepared for you. Maybe a door closed, but another one much better is about to open.

As an adult, Moses lost everything. After making a mistake, he fled from Egypt and ended up in the wilderness, working as a shepherd. From the palace to the desert, from plenty to nothing. Maybe you’ve felt that shift yourself. You once had more than enough, but now you’re just getting by.

But it was in the wilderness that Moses met God at the burning bush. It was in that place of emptiness that he discovered his true purpose. God used that season to prepare him for something far bigger than he could imagine.

In the same way, God can use your financial “wilderness” to reshape you. Maybe He’s teaching you how to manage resources better, or how to depend on Him, not just on money. The wilderness isn’t punishment, it’s preparation.

Moses left Egypt on his own, but he returned with God and that made all the difference. When you bring God into your finances, things start to change. You gain peace where there was panic, wisdom where there was worry, and favour where there was failure.

God can open doors no one else can. He can provide you with a new job, a business idea, or an opportunity for a meeting that could change everything.

Moses probably thought God would just help him protect his family, but the plan was much greater: to deliver an entire nation. In the same way, God’s plan for your finances isn’t just about paying bills, it’s about purpose. He wants to bless you so you can bless others, support His work, and show that even in a world full of struggle, His people can still prosper.

You might be facing your hardest financial season yet, but don’t lose faith. The same God who rescued Moses from the river and met him in the wilderness can meet you right where you are. His promises have not changed, and His timing is always perfect.
