What Does Palm Sunday Mean to You?

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final seven days of Jesus’ earthly ministry.  On this day, we celebrate His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. In Biblical times, it was customary for kings to enter the city in a grand procession.  As Jesus approached Jerusalem on a donkey, the people laid palm branches before Him, welcoming the Lord Jesus as their King.

“The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” (John 12:12-13)

In that moment, many recognised His greatness; however, few understood that He was actually on His way to the cross. This powerful entry wasn’t just a historic event—it revealed the true purpose of the Saviour: to give Himself out of love.

This biblical passage isn’t just for the past—it speaks to us today. Just as Jesus entered Jerusalem, He desires to enter the lives of those who sincerely welcome Him. His triumphal entry represents a fresh start. No matter what you’re facing, a new beginning is possible through faith to experience real, lasting change.

We invite you to join us in remembering this special moment at your nearest Universal Church. Attendees are encouraged to bring a palm branch; this will be your symbol of victory — a declaration that God will enter triumphantly in your life.

You’re also invited to bring a piece of clothing to be consecrated, as part of the preparation for the event “Family at the Foot of the Cross”. This simple yet meaningful act represents faith, trust, and the act of entrusting what matters most to God’s care.

As we approach this significant event, take the opportunity to let others know what He has done for you, as we are a few days away from the Family at the Foot of the Cross event. Extend this invite to someone who needs it, because just as that moment in Jerusalem changed everything, this could be the start of something new in the lives of those who believe.
