receive wisdom,
Each week, we embark on a spiritual journey, exploring the Word of God to understand the characteristics and attitudes necessary for building a strong faith. Over the past two weeks, we have focused on two of the foundational practices: prayer and meditating on Godโs Word.
The First Foundation: Prayer
Jesus exemplified the importance of private prayers by withdrawing from His disciples and the crowds to speak with the Father in solitude. Although collective prayer holds great value, it cannot substitute for our personal intimate moments alone with God.
The Second Foundation: Meditating on Godโs Word
When we immerse ourselves in the Bible, we receive wisdom, understanding, and guidance for lifeโs challenges. The Scriptures possesses the power to transform us as it warns, rebukes, and directs us according to Godโs perfect will.
Godโs Word is not just meant to be read but to be meditated upon. In the book of Joshua, it emphasises the importance of not only reading but reflecting on the scriptures. Joshua was instructed:
โThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good successโ (Joshua 1:8).
Meditating on the Word goes beyond mere reading. It involves profound reflection on Godโs divine guidance, allowing His thoughts to occupy our minds. This practice keeps our faith alive and shields it from doubts and confusion.
Imagine wanting to talk to someone, but they ignore you. How would you feel? This is similar to having a Bible at home but never opening it. When we pray, we communicate with God. When we read and meditate on His Word, God speaks with us.
Has the two-step process been beneficial, and are you eager to learn about the third foundation? Join us this Wednesday, as we uncover the next foundation to building a strong faith. Bring your physical Bible, and come ready to listen to Godโs voice.
Rest assured, if you apply what is being taught, you will develop an unwavering faith.
