On Saturday afternoon, 8 February, The Love School made its highly-anticipated return to the UK after 12 years, marking a significant moment in the Universal Church’s 30-year anniversary celebrations in the UK. By 2pm an eager crowd was already queuing up with excitement to participate in this special event, which started at 4pm.
Bishop Renato and Cristiane Cardoso began the meeting with a prayer, seeking for guidance and entrusting the seminar to God’s hand. The couple delved into the seminar, using captivating and practical examples to reveal how society subtly influences people to fail in their love lives. Teaching the student how to identify these pitfalls and what to do to overcome them.
Society wants you to chase success
“As a child, what do you hear from your parents?” asked Bishop Renato. “Study, get good grades so you can get a good job, earn a lot of money and not have to depend on anyone. However, when that is your main goal in life, obviously other things will end up being sacrificed on the altar of success, including marriage and family.”
Cristiane Cardoso added, “With this, many people think that their value lies in their career, their success, and when they don’t achieve as much as they hoped, they start to feel worthless. So, the person puts all their effort into this and even sacrifices their health and their own principles for success.”
Bishop Renato further explained, “in fact, when a couple joins forces, they can achieve a successful future more quickly by working together towards the same goal.”
Society condemns marriage
Nowadays, marriage is often seen as a form of slavery and imprisonment, and is frequently portrayed in a negative light in films, TV series and soap operas. “Pay attention the next time you watch a film or series,” urged Bishop Renato. “You will see that married people are always portrayed as the boring ones. The husband is always the boring character, and the wife is always as unhappier than her single or divorced friends. This is like a programme installed in people’s minds that makes them reluctant to get married even when they meet someone interesting.”
“Society claims that marriage doesn’t work, due to countless bad examples of celebrity marriages. However, the world doesn’t know how to make marriage work. Marriage is something very sacred, which represents our relationship with God, where both partners need to sacrifice for each other. It’s a team effort,” explained Cristiane.
Encouraging casual relationships
“This idea that you can have casual relationships with multiple people without having negative emotional effects is one of the biggest lies,” warned Bishop Renato. “Because after several casual relationships, your heart becomes so broken that there comes a point where you don’t want to hear the word ‘relationship’ anymore.”
The importance of the Altar
Bishop Renato and Mrs Cristiane also remembered a decisive moment in their lives, which took place at the same Altar where they were giving the seminar, at the Cathedral of Miracles in London. At the beginning of their marriage, when they faced difficulties, conflicts, Cristiane Cardoso stated that if there was no change, they would end up getting divorced. So, Bishop Renato went to that same Altar to present the situation in prayer to God, who showed him the solution and enabled them to overcome their problems.
Everyone was invited to do the same – going to the Altar to present their love problems to the Almighty and hand over their past, the baggage and everything that was preventing them from finding happiness in love. Bishop Renato and Cristiane Cardoso cried out to God, determining the total transformation for those who needed a blessing in their love life. It was an afternoon that will be remembered by those who were present, blessing many couples and planting seeds that will flourish in the lives of those who are seeking a relationship in God’s way.
