UCKG Opens 14th London Food Bank In Woolwich Amid Rising Demand And Dwindling Food Supplies Across The Capital

The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) has openeda new food bank in Woolwich, responding to growing demand for emergency food support and ongoing shortages across London.
The Woolwich Food Bank at 1st Floor, 115-123 Powis St, SE18 6JL, officially open on Saturday 31 January, becoming UCKG’s 14th food bank in London and the latest addition to its expanding network of community support services.

The opening comes as food banks across the capital report increasing numbers of families and individuals seeking help, alongside falling food stocks and rising pressure on frontline services.
The Woolwich site will provide essential food parcels to residentsfacing financial hardship, as well as signposting to wider support services available through UCKG’s community programmes.Bishop Allan Passos, Bishop at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, said:

“We are seeing first-hand the impact of the extended cost-of-livingcrisis is having on ordinary people – working families, pensioners and young people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Opening our 14th food bank in London is a direct response to that need. When shelves are empty and demand is rising, communities cannot afford for support to slow down. This food bank is about dignity, compassion and making sure no one is left to cope alone.”

I am always treated very well when I use the Food Bank. The volunteers are so kind and friendly. The food I collect is so helpful to me and my family.”

UCKG has operated in the UK for over 30 years and runs food banks and soup kitchens across London as part of its wider work supporting people affected by poverty, homelessness and financial hardship.

The Woolwich Food Bank opening is open to the public, local partners and media.
