The Sunday of Reconciliation

Sunday of Reconciliation article
In a world filled with distractions, it’s easy for people to drift away from their faith without even realising it. What begins as missing a few Sundays or postponing prayer can, over time, lead to complete disconnection. Many who were once close to God and active in the church now find themselves feeling distant, unsure how to return — or whether they even can.

That’s why the Universal Church is preparing for a special day called ‘The Sunday of Reconciliation,’ taking place on 16th November. The purpose of the day is simple: to reach out to those who have wandered away and help them find their way back.

In the same way, the biblical story of Abraham tells how he set out to rescue his relative Lot,

who had gone astray in the city of Sodom. It’s a story that symbolises compassion and persistence — not giving up on those we care about, even when they’ve lost their way.

This isn’t about blame or criticism. It’s about care, understanding, and the belief that anyone can make a fresh start. Not everyone who has drifted away is ready to return — some are still enjoying the life they’ve chosen. But for those who feel that something’s missing, this day is an invitation to come home. Perhaps you’ve never physically left the church, yet your heart is far from God.

Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that prayer doesn’t work anymore, or that God has stopped listening. Perhaps something painful happened, and you can’t understand why He allowed it. You might even feel that returning is for others, but not for you — or perhaps you’re caught in a cycle of mistakes, unable to see a way out, believing that coming back would make no difference.

But if you’re reading this now, perhaps it’s not by coincidence. This message could be your sign — an opportunity to change direction. In the Book of Ezekiel 33:11 it says: ‘…As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live…” In another verse, He promises to wipe away all wrongdoing and not remember it anymore (Ezekiel 18:22).

In other words, it’s never too late to begin again. The Sunday of Reconciliation offers each of us another chance — a chance to find peace, restore hope, and renew our relationship with God.

On Sunday, 16th November, every Universal Church will open its doors to all who are ready to take that step. Whether you’ve been away for months or years, you are warmly invited to return — back to faith, back to hope, and back to God.
