The significance of the coronation and how it relates to you!

Coronation 1

As the coronation weekend fast approaches, the preparations are well underway for possibly the biggest event in the UK this year. Millions worldwide eagerly await to witness this historical moment!

It will commence on Saturday 6 May at 11am and will be held in Westminster Abbey – a 900-year-old church that has been the venue for weddings, funerals and coronations for the royal family for centuries.

There will be several traditions that will be observed, similar to customs found in the Bible. The ceremony will begin with the King taking an oath, he will then sit on the coronation chair (which was made in 1300) and he will have a
special Holy oil – which was consecrated in Jerusalem in March. This oil will be poured on the King’s head, chest and hands. Lastly, the King will be crowned. The Queen consort Camilla will go through the same procedure.

The anointing of new monarchs is a practice that can be dated back to Biblical times and is a symbol of the presence and power of God upon them.

Similarly, this Sunday in all of our branches across the UK, there will be the Consecration of the Seconds (those who decided to place God first).

All those who would like to be a part of this special meeting are invited to attend their nearest Universal Church at 10am (also at 7:30am).
