The Faith That Gives Direct Access to God

Torn Veil

There is a common misconception that God is distant – a mighty ruler sitting on a throne far beyond the stars, unreachable to us. While it’s true that He is the Lord of lords, and deserves all honour and reverence, His greatest desire has never been to remain distant from us. In fact, it’s quite the opposite: from the beginning, His intention was for us to have a close, personal relationship with Him.

Since creation, God’s plan has always been to dwell among His people. As it is written, “they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8). Humanity was created in His image and likeness, designed for direct fellowship with Him. Unfortunately, through disobedience, that intimacy was lost, and sin created a separation between the Creator and His creation.

Nevertheless, God’s desire to be among His people never faded. He instructed Moses: “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8). Yet, there was still a barrier preventing direct access to Him. Within that sanctuary, the Most Holy Place – where the Ark of the Covenant was kept, symbolising God’s Presence – was separated by a thick veil. Only the high priest could enter this place once a year on the Day of Atonement, when he interceded for the people before God’s Presence (see Hebrews 9:7).

Everything changed when Jesus gave His life on the cross. “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom” (Matthew 27:51). This magnificent event was not just physical; it was a spiritual declaration that the separation between God and humanity had been removed. Today, that torn veil represents our open path to God. Through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, every person now has direct access to the Father – no priest, no ritual and no barrier remain; only sincere faith.

In this spirit, on 4 November we will hold The Tuesday of Granted Access. If you are facing challenges that have left you feeling stuck or powerless – especially regarding your health and well-being – we invite you to present your needs directly to God in prayer, believing that through faith, He will grant access to whatever answers have seemed out of reach until now.
