The Consequences of Impulsiveness

Traffic dispute

One of humanity’s greatest enemies is impulsiveness. This swift yet powerful force has led to the downfall of many individuals. Consider how often people have lost their physical safety, freedom, or even their lives due to impulsive altercations, such as traffic disputes. What about those who, in the heat of the moment, engage in extramarital affairs, ultimately breaking their relationships and separating their families?

At the core of impulsiveness lies our darker instincts. Those who give in to these impulses prioritise incoherent emotions over reason, resulting in disastrous consequences. Stubborn opinions and explosive tempers are typical traits of individuals who allow themselves to be driven by their impulses. However, the Word of God warns us about the dangers of living this way:

“Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.” (Proverbs 25:28).

Successful men know how to say “no” to themselves. That being said, how can we find the strength to overcome impulsiveness and achieve self-control? This valuable lesson and more will be shared at the First Men’s Meeting of 2025.

The IntelliMen project meetings aim to form strong and successful men in all areas of life. Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your spirit through a connection with the Spirit of God. This connection will give you the strength to overcome whatever seems bigger than you. Join us on Sunday, 2 March at 4pm at the Cathedral of Miracles (with live transmission for those outside London).
