Special School of Faith in London with Bishop Renato Cardoso

Bp Renato Cardoso
As part of a missionary trip to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Universal Church in the United Kingdom, Bishop Renato Cardoso led the School of Faith at the Cathedral of Miracles in London on Wednesday, 5 February. This meeting served as a preview for a special series of events beginning on Thursday, 6 February.

A Love Letter from God

During the meeting, Bishop Renato asked those present if they had ever received a love letter. He explained, “When you receive a love letter, you find a private place and open it immediately. No one leaves a sealed love letter hidden in a drawer. You want to read it straight away to see what the other person has written.”

He then drew a comparison with the Bible, saying it is God’s love letter to us all. Bishop Renato encouraged everyone to reflect on this, asking, “Have you been reading God’s Word to hear what He has to say to you? Coming to church and attending Bible studies is important, but nothing can replace reading the Bible personally. You need to develop the habit of meditating on His Word daily—not because I’m telling you, but because God says so.”

The Importance of Perseverance

The Bible study focused on the importance of perseverance, as highlighted by the words of Jesus in Revelation 3:10: “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”

Bishop Renato explained that perseverance is the ability to keep going regardless of what is happening around you. “You stay on track and press forward, knowing you’re doing the right thing by following God’s Word. That’s what perseverance is. You don’t change course or give up in the face of challenges.”

There will be times when you feel discouraged by unexpected problems, but it’s essential to keep moving forward. Doing the right thing isn’t based on how you feel. Many people show determination in achieving physical goals, but they often falter in their faith,” he emphasised.

Bishop Renato also highlighted the importance of following God not just for His blessings but for His salvation. Both blessings and problems can easily distract us from prioritising God.

The ultimate reward that God promises to those who persevere is eternal salvation. That is what truly matters in the end. The church here in the UK is celebrating 30 years. It has been 30 years since I first came to this country to begin our mission, and those years have flown by.

During this time, many have left the church, but many are still here. I see familiar faces, and it fills my heart with joy—not because of the buildings we’ve built, as those will eventually be left behind, but because of the people who began this journey and continue to persevere. What

matters in this life isn’t earthly achievements but remaining steadfast so we can spend eternity with God.”

Afterwards, a prayer was made for those present, especially those who felt the need for renewed perseverance. Bishop Renato prayed for God to free them from anxiety, frustration, or discouragement and to renew their strength.

The meeting concluded with an invitation from Bishop James Marques for the upcoming special series of services, declaring that there would be salvation at each one.
