Special Blessing of the Students: Exam Edition

Students
Exams can be an incredibly stressful time. No matter how much revision you’ve done, sometimes you walk into the exam hall and your mind goes blank. Panic sets in. Your hands begin to sweat. You stare at the paper for what feels like forever while everyone else is writing away, and your page is still empty. You glance at the clock, then at your surroundings, read the question and it makes no sense. You try to recall what you learnt in class, but your mind feels clouded. You take a deep breath, read the question again, and a flicker of memory returns. You remember the lesson and wish you’d paid closer attention.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

This exam season, we’re inviting all students to receive a special blessing on Sunday 11th May. A moment of prayer and encouragement for all those preparing for exams. While a blessing offers spiritual support and peace of mind, it’s important to remember that success also comes from effort and preparation. Faith and hard work go hand in hand.

Here are a few helpful tips for revising effectively:

  • Start early: Give yourself plenty of time to review topics, rather than cramming the night before.
  • Make a timetable: Break down subjects into manageable chunks and allocate specific time slots for each.
  • Use active revision techniques: Flashcards, mind maps, and teaching someone else are good ways to help retain information.
  • Take breaks: Short, regular breaks improve focus and reduce burnout.
  • Stay positive: Believe you can succeed.

On Exam Day:

  • Prepare Everything the Night Before: Pack stationery, ID, water, etc. Plan your route and check your exam time.
  • Eat a Good Breakfast: Include protein (e.g., eggs and wholegrain toast).
  • Arrive Early: Aim to get to the exam location at least 20–30 minutes early to settle nerves.
  • Time Management in the Exam: Allocate time per question (based on marks).
  • Check Your Work: If time allows, review your answers.

This Sunday, you are invited to bring an item that you’ll be using during your studies or exams. For example, a pen, your study books, or even your laptop. These items will be anointed as part of the blessing.

Do you know a student who could benefit from this? Everyone is welcome.
