After much excitement and anticipation, Saturday 13th September finally arrived — the day of the official UK launch of George Müller: An Example of Faith and Trust by Núbia Siqueira.
Usually, the National Assistants’ Meeting is a monthly gathering just for Assistants. But this time, it was opened up to anyone who considered themselves a servant of God — making it an even more special occasion.
This particular Saturday was all about two things: welcoming everyone who wanted to serve God into our general meeting, and celebrating the release of this inspiring book. People travelled from across London and further afield to be part of the day at the Rainbow Theatre.
Our Christian Books Plus was transformed into a George Müller Museum, walking visitors through the key moments of his life. From his conversion to Christianity and the opening of his very first orphanage, right through to his passing, it also displayed artefacts in honour of his legacy.
There was also a recreation of George Müller’s study. Early arrivals collected their books, took photos and videos, and got a feel for the place where he would spend time meditating on the Word of God. To add to the atmosphere, we had a few of his own handwritten extracts and even one of his favourite hymn books on loan from the George Müller Museum in Bristol.
At 3pm, the meeting began, led by Bishop James Marques, who oversees the work of the Universal Church in the UK. He reminded us that every Christian is called to serve — whether as an Assistant, evangelist, group member, pastor or pastor’s wife. Receiving from God means being willing to give.
Bishop addressed six common reasons why people hesitate to serve on the Altar, showing us how each one can be overcome.
George Müller himself was an example of what it means to truly serve God. More than a preacher, he lived out his faith in practical ways that still inspire us today, nearly two centuries later.
After the meeting, Tobias Gardener shared: “I didn’t know much about George Müller until I heard about the book launch. What struck me most was his faith—how he trusted God, inspired others, and served wholeheartedly. I believe this book will help me deepen my faith, spend more time in the Bible, and grow closer to God.”
We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences of the day. If you’ve started reading the book already, share what’s stood out to you on our Instagram page.
