New Soup Kitchen opened in Luton

Countless individuals and families in the UK are experiencing increased financial difficulties. For many, this has meant restricted access to cooked food, with a whopping 9.3 million adults said to have experienced food insecurity in January 2023 alone.

Despite being one of the richest countries in the world, statistics show that the UK has the worst food poverty rates in Europe.

These shocking numbers are a result of the rise in food and energy bill pr360158183 10159187114311078 3305764911666763028 nices which have skyrocketed in the last few years.

The value in a warm meal is indispensable, as it is crucial for the maintenance of our body’s nutrition levels. Research shows that abstaining your body from the necessary nourishment it needs will affect your overall health and well-being – both physically and mentally.

That’s why the work of the Soup Kitchen in the Universal Church is so important. Taking place every single week in selected locations, this project is set to provide a warm meal for anyone who walks through the doors of the church in need of this support.

Last Saturday, the volunteers of the Universal Church in Luton welcomed their locals to the Grand Opening of our brand-new Soup Kitchen. They received many members of the public on this day, who really appreciated both the initiative and the friendly service of the volunteers.

The volunteers who helped on the day were very grateful for her presence and were glad to be a part of a project that is making a positive impact in their local community.

If you live in Luton or in the surrounding area and you or someone you know would benefit from this support, you can visit us every Saturday between 11am-12:30pm at 15 Church St, Luton, LU1 3JE. You will be welcomed with a smile, a friendly chat and a hot drink of your choice!
