When you think of Michael Bublé, you probably picture sold-out arenas, platinum records, and the kind of lifestyle many people can only dream of. Yet, during a recent conversation on The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, he revealed something unexpected: in his eyes, true wealth has very little to do with money.
At one point in the conversation, Bublé shared: “Rich sounds like money, things, Lamborghinis and tickets to see Messi. This is not being rich.”
For him, the real treasure lies elsewhere. He went on to explain: “Rich is having a strong faith. Rich is having a great family and loving your family. Rich is having great friendships… the people that I know that have the most stuff are the most miserable people I know. It doesn’t take long to realise that life has nothing to do with ‘stuff’. When we’re all sitting on that deathbed, we’re all going to die, every single one of us, and nobody looks back and says, ‘I wish I collected more stuff.”
Michael’s perspective changed dramatically after his son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer at just three years old. Facing such a devastating moment made him reassess everything he thought was important. He admits that before then, his priorities were not in the right place.
Although he wasn’t raised with strong religious ties, that experience opened his eyes to faith and to what really matters in life.
In the book of Luke, chapter 12, Jesus warns against greed, teaching that life is not measured by the abundance of possessions. He tells the story of a man so focused on storing up riches that he neglected his soul.
Have you ever thought: “What will all that you have mean, when your soul detaches from your body?
It’s a reminder that material wealth fades, but spiritual wealth endures. When a person is rich in God, it doesn’t matter how much money they have in this world — true wealth is within.
The message is simple: seek God’s forgiveness, live by His Word, and remember that this world is only part of the journey. As it says in 1 Corinthians 2:9: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
