On Saturday 11th October 2025, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God opened the public areas of its Finsbury Park headquarters on a Universal Open Day (11:00–13:00), inviting local residents to look around the historic Rainbow Theatre building, meet volunteers and staff, and learn about the church’s community programmes.
Councillor Jason Jackson, Mayor of Islington, said: “I was pleased to visit the Rainbow Theatre headquarters today and meet volunteers supporting local people. Our borough is stronger when community groups, faith organisations and residents work together to help those facing challenges such as homelessness, loneliness and youth violence.”
Visitors dropped into the soup kitchen and English class running that morning, and spoke to volunteers at information tables about several leading initiatives, including:
Bishop James Marques, who oversees the church’s evangelistic work, said: “The day was about openness and community. We welcomed neighbours to see our work first-hand – hot meals, English language support, practical advice and someone to listen. Faith is not only what we believe – it is what we do for others, week in, week out.”
The Open Day forms part of ongoing community engagement as the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God marks 30 years in the United Kingdom. From its Finsbury Park base and 38 full-time branches across the United Kingdom and Ireland, the church provides daily services and practical support.
