The mention of the word “wedding” conjures images of a beautiful wedding dress, a well-tailored suit, friends and family standing as groomsmen and bridesmaids, a carefully curated guest list, flowers, gifts, the special memories and all the celebrations the day deserves. Yet, what many fail to consider is that this special day marks merely the beginning of what marriage truly entails.
As significant as this moment is, a commitment to love and respect one another — marriage is much more than signing a certificate or hosting a magnificent ceremony. It is, in fact, a daily construction.
For this lifelong building project to be strong and enduring, it is essential to invite God, the Author of Love, into the relationship, ideally from the very beginning. In Hebrews 13:4, it is written: “Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled…” This serves as a reminder that marriage is not only instituted by God but also honoured by Him.
On Thursday, 1st May at 8pm, we invite you to join us at our Universal Church in Kilburn for a special Love Therapy Seminar, where couples will be blessed in their marriage on the Altar.
Why is the blessing on the Altar so important?
The daily building of marriage must consider the realities of life: the daily routines, financial responsibilities, personal challenges, differences between two individuals, continual adaptations, and new discoveries. Marriage is a union between two imperfect people striving to build something truly beautiful together — and for this reason, receiving the blessing of the Altar is vital.
The importance of inviting God into a marriage is beautifully reflected in the very first miracle performed by the Lord Jesus: the transformation of water into wine at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1–11). This miracle highlights that a marriage blessed with the Presence of Jesus does not diminish with time; rather, it flourishes. As the years go by, the couple grows stronger, closer, and more united, becoming “one flesh” as God intended.
Come and take part in this special celebration! Witness the renewal and strengthening of marriages, and don’t miss the revealing of the 12th tool in our ongoing series, The Tools of Intelligent Love.
