Sometimes, it may feel like it’s only our family that goes through problems. You might look around and wonder how everyone else seems so close-knit, while you’re left dealing with silence, misunderstandings, or even total disconnection.
But the truth is, every family faces challenges. No matter how perfect things might appear on the outside, behind closed doors it’s often a different story. Family rifts can and do happen in any household.
Take Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz, for example. Now living in the US, the couple recently flew to the UK to be photographed for a high-end fashion brand. The shoot took place just two miles from the home of Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham—yet reportedly, they didn’t know that they were in the country. This came just days after Brooklyn and Nicola missed Sir David’s 50th birthday celebration and said nothing publicly about his knighthood. Meanwhile, photos of the pair celebrating Nicola’s father’s 83rd birthday were shared on social media.
Sound familiar? Maybe your children have stopped speaking to you, or a sibling has cut you off without explanation. Whatever your situation, the pain can run deep, especially when you feel like you’ve tried everything to make things right.
Family is a gift from God, and although it may not always feel like it, it’s a gift worth fighting for. Even when things get tough, because nothing is beyond repair when you place it in God’s hands. With faith, what is broken can be restored.
That’s why this Friday, 11th July, in all Universal Churches across the UK, we will continue the ‘Seven Fridays of Spiritual Purification’. Now on Week 5, our focus will be our family.
Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water. Upon arrival, a drop of salt will be added — serving as a point of contact to use your faith on behalf of your family. The power is not in the salt or the water, but in your trust in God. As you act with confidence, you make room for His power to work in your life.
Event: Seven Fridays of Spiritual Purification
Day and time: Friday 11th July at 7:30pm (also at 7am, 10am and 3pm)
Location: Your local Universal Church
