If there is one common desire among human beings, it’s to feel happy – both with themselves and with everything that surrounds them. In today’s world, there is no shortage of “happiness sellers.” While it is impossible to purchase true satisfaction and personal fulfillment, many use motivational speeches to influence others to follow their paths believing they will be rewarded with a “dose of happiness.”
This type of influence, combined with the longing to belong, leads to what is known as the “herd behaviour”, where individuals follow certain trends simply because the majority is doing so. Humans have a natural urge to belong; being part of a group can provide feelings of acceptance, safety and validation. However, the problem occur when people follow trends without taking the time to reflect on whether they truly align with their values.
As a result, people become increasingly similar to one another, losing touch with their own identities. This phenomenon manifests in various ways, such as physical appearance, clothing choices, and even the manner in which tasks are performed or language is used.
The loss of personal identity can lead to an identity crisis, especially among those who frequently jump from trend to trend. They may imitate so many people that they forget who they truly are.
It is interesting to note how easily many people fall for scams, believing in empty promises and magic formulas that claim to change lives or bring happiness. Yet, when it comes to God and His Word, they are extremely skeptical. Full of questions, doubts and judgments, they end up blaming God for life’s challenges and resist teachings of faith that could truly transform their lives.
The world tries to convince as many people as possible that the Holy Scriptures are outdated, implying that God’s teachings are no longer relevant. However, as society discards eternal principles, we see a rise in inner emptiness, confusion of values and a longing for meaning in life.
Choosing what gives us immediate pleasure is easier because it doesn’t require profound changes. In contrast, opening up to God involves looking at ourselves, facing our flaws, reconsidering our choices and often giving up certain behaviours.
However, when we truly desire something, we are willing to pay whatever price is necessary to obtain it. When it comes to happiness, the only path to genuine fulfillment is through faith in the Word of God. This journey has already been undertaken and confirmed by countless people, so why not give it a try?
Amidst all the voices competing for our attention, God stands as the ultimate source of positive influence, providing unwavering guidance and true fulfillment.
