In the Middle of a Lions’ Den?

News 5

Problems are a part of life. Whether we believe in God or not, struggles will come our way. A common misconception is that many people have, is that once you surrender your life to God, all your troubles magically vanish. The truth is, faith doesn’t exempt us from challenges—it equips us to face them differently.

God never said we wouldn’t face trials. What He does promise is that we would never face them alone.

Take the story of Daniel, for example. He stood out from all the other officials in the king’s court but because he worshipped God, he became a target. A decree was issued saying that anyone caught praying to any god other than the king would be thrown into a den of lions.

So, what did Daniel do?

“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” (Daniel 6:10)

Daniel could have avoided the lions’ den by compromising his faith, but he chose to remain faithful. Although, God did not prevent him from entering the den, He did protect him from harm.

“…God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths…” (Daniel 6:22).

Maybe right now, you feel like you’re surrounded by “lions”— problems that seem too big, too many, or too overwhelming. It could even be threatening your peace, family, overall well-being or finances. Whatever your personal “den” looks like, know that God is able to shut the mouths of the lions in your life.

On Saturday 19th July at 7am, every Universal Church across the UK will be holding the Collective Fast of the Lion’s Den. This is for anyone who’s tired of fighting battles alone and wants to cry out for God’s help—just like Daniel did.

Write down what you need deliverance from on a piece of paper, and come fasting from food if you can. However, always follow your doctor’s instructions. We will pray together in faith, believing that the same God who delivered Daniel can do the same for you.

Event: Collective Fast of the Lion’s Den
