When life’s challenges begin to affect your finances, it can feel like everything is falling apart. Maybe you’re working long hours, tightening your belt, doing all the right things — but the court case is still pending, bills are still piling up, the job market is not offering much, and it’s all just… exhausting.
Then someone says to you, “Just pray.” You think, really? That’s your advice? When you are staring at overdue letters and your bank balance in the red, prayer might seem like the last thing that will help. But what if there’s more to that advice than what meets the eye?
There is a story in the Bible that offers some powerful insight, especially for those feeling the pressure of financial hardship. It’s called the Parable of the Persistent Widow and it is found in Luke chapter 18.
Here’s what we can learn:
In the story, Jesus talks about a widow who kept going to a judge, asking for justice. Day after day, she went back—not because the judge was compassionate or fair, but because she refused to give up. Eventually, the unjust judge gave in because she would not stop asking. If persistence can move someone unjust, how much more will a loving and just God respond when His people who continue to pray faithfully?
The widow did not see results right away. She could have given up and accepted defeat but she didn’t. She kept returning. That’s a lesson for all of us.
Perseverance does not mean you ignore the reality of your situation. It means you face it, every day, with faith that things can change. If you have been applying for jobs with no replies, if you’ve been budgeting but still falling short — don’t let that discourage you or silence your faith. Your breakthrough might be closer than it looks.
Many of us know what it feels like to be treated unfairly — to be underpaid, undervalued, or simply forgotten. The world doesn’t always operate on fairness. But God does.
The parable reminds us that God isn’t like the unjust judge. He cares. He listens. He sees what you are facing, and He knows what you need even before you ask. While, He may not answer in our timing, He always acts with purpose. Sometimes, He even uses difficult or unfair circumstances to open unexpected doors.
Whether it’s financial relief or a new opportunity, God promises that your persistence will not be ignored.
So, what can you do?
Your financial life doesn’t have to remain the way it is. There is a way out and it starts with not giving up. Join us this Monday for the Prosperity with God meeting to ‘Cry Out for a Way Out’. The Lord Jesus says: “if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).
Also, if you work in the legal profession, there will be a special blessing just for you too.
