When we look around today, it’s hard to ignore the reality we are living in. Stories of violence, pain and fear have become far too common, affecting families and communities while leaving many people feeling unsettled and vulnerable. In moments like these, it’s only natural to wonder: is there any hope left for our world?
But rather than focusing all our time on asking where things went wrong, there’s a more important question to consider: What can be done now?
The Bible reminds us that God has given us spiritual authority — authority to stand against evil and to bring healing and restoration.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God shows us that the healing of a nation doesn’t begin with political arguments, social conflict, or human strength. It begins with people who are willing to humble themselves, pray, turn back to God and genuinely seek Him.
The way forward is not found by taking a stand in the streets, but by kneeling in prayer. True change begins in the spiritual realm and then flows into our personal lives, our families and our communities.
That’s why this Sunday, 1 February, the Universal Church will hold ‘The Cry Out to Heal Our Land’ in all Universal Churches across the UK and around the world.
Everyone taking part is invited to bring a piece of paper with their address, as a way of representing their local area. United in faith, we will cry out together for God to bring healing, protection and peace to our land.
God’s Word also reassures us that those who place themselves under His protection are kept safe. Even in a world filled with tragedy and uncertainty, He promises that those who trust in Him will not be swept away by the “floods” of problems affecting society.
